Over the long week end myself and my family all gathered together to celebrate my grandparents 80th birthday. They are both are so special to me and we have shared so many beautiful times and memories together…
One of my fondest memories is watching my Nan cooking up a storm in the kitchen… She is an incredible cook and has so many delicious recipes… I thought it would be quite fitting to share one of my favourites with you…
It’s really simple to make but it tastes AMAZING! I hope you enjoy!
Nanny Homer’s Date Loaf-
1 Cup chopped dates
1 cup brown sugar
60g butter or margarine
One & a half cups self raising flour
1cup chopped walnuts optional (Nan does not use them in her recipe.)
1Cup boiling water
Place dry ingredients (except flour) in a bowl and pour boiling water over them. Then mix in flour. Place mixture in a loaf tin with bottom lined with cooking paper to avoid sticking. Bake in a moderate oven for 40 minutes.
